T'Sarreth gets a rope out of his backpack and lowers it down to the misguided Nehi. "Here take this!" he shouts.

The rope slips down and out of view. After a few moments, there is a weak tug on the rope, then a very hard one. Harder than T'Sarreth would think a Nehi could pull. From the depths of the crevace, comes the rumble of a deep throated creature, somewhere out of view ...

T'Sarreth let's go of the rope, and equips his bow.

Klutarkes pulled out his Katana, turned to the others and said, "Ready?" Once they acknowledged, he rushed forward into the darkness, relying on the light pouring into the cave from the opening behind them, though he knew if they went too deep, his low-light vision wouldn't be much help. The tunnel sloped steadily downward. He made a point not to get too far ahead of his friends.

As they descend, they hear a strange noise ahead of them, like something wailing in pain or a woman giving birth. It's clearly not the nehi, for it echoes through the tunnel, buffeting them, the manifestation of a larger creature ... perhaps seventy or eighty feet away - it's difficult to tell, knowing the nature of tunnels and the sound distortion common in such dark regions ...

Nodding hastily at Klutarkes, Caide rushes forward, weapon in hand and a prayer on his lips. He invokes a minor miracle of light as he goes, keeping the path ahead of them fully in view, and strides side by side Klutarkes as they descend the tunnels.

T'Sarreth takes the rear, unsure about the wisdom of going down in the tunnels. He has his bow drawn and ready.

Caide's light pushes the shadows further ahead and out of their way, giving clear view of the twisting hole ahead of them and the occasional stalactite. Ahead some thirty feet, the tunnel peals off to the left, roughly in the direction the nehi was in the crevace. Further in, they see that the tunnel turns to the right but opens up before them into a large, low-ceilinged cavern.

The ground is covered with mud and dried blood, partially covered here and there are bones, odd bits of shiny and in some cases mud covered metal and debris of unknown origins. There are also stalactites and stalagmites here and there. [This whole area is difficult terrain, which means you move 1/2 speed]

They hear a soft moaning in the distance, perhaps thirty feet to their left, along the cave wall, likely the same wall as the crevace. Something moves just beyond the range of Caide's light, then, before they can consider other options, the thing rushes forward into the light, it's flesh is burned and peeling off its body and its limbs are twisted into dreadful parodies of something vaguely humanoid. It is eyeles and shrieks with mad batle lust as it rushes at them, wielding a long, jagged piece of metal. The creature is 30' away.

Initiative Order (I will always roll initiative to keep things moving along):
T'Sarreth: 19
Caide: 16
Creature: 14
Klutarkes: 13

[[ Caide uses divine ray hitting for 5 damage on a successful attack roll 1d20+9=19 ]]

Caide adopts a defensive position and takes a few steps back as the deformed creature charges. Then whispering a soft prayer to Yahweh he extends his hand towards the creature, and a shaft of yellow-white radiance shoots from his hand towards the unfortunate being.
