"Very well," T'Sarreth said. "So speak. Tell us your tale."

He nods his head in calm understanding and sits down against a nearby stone outcropping. He then begins to speak once more, "Unfortunately there is little to tell, for I cannot remember much of my recent history. As for who I am, I am the son of a wealthy merchant in a large township fairly distant from where I believe we are now. I joined the church of Yahweh as a young man, and early into my twenties I began serving as a traveling missionary and holy adept. I've been doing that for coming near on a decade now, and have come to know much of the civilized world as a result. My last memory was working on a diplomatic mission between a small conclave of wizards and a neighboring township. I am not sure what happened, but I do remember an argument between myself and their leader about their use of enchantments on the neighboring township. I have come to the deduction that one was used on me as well, but I do not know for sure. I awoke from my daze in a rather ugly condition, having been piled with dozens of dead bodies about to be set aflame by some rather disgusting looking creatures not far from here. A battle ensued and I had no choice but to destroy the wretched things. What happened in between my last memory and my time of awakening I do not know, nor do I know how much time has passed. What is the month and year, do you know, being that you are strangers in this world? And what force caused you to leap from your world to ours?"

"It is the 15th of Maaz, or thereabouts. I might have missed a day as the last month has been a difficult one with much trouble, and little time to rest or consider simple matters such as dating. Er, the date, I mean. I'm not sure what calendar is used on this world. We and a few others in our group came through a stargate nearby and found ourselves here. Our companions are busy down in the valley with other matters, and won't be able to travel with us for a time. One of them knows how to use the stargate," he said, pointing behind him, adding, "It's back that way, but requires activation using power shards. I'm really not sure exactly how it works, honestly. Back on Mawr Dobb, there are many such stargate, though most are not functional, or at least have not been used in many years. Perhaps it's because most, like myself, don't know how."

[Your character would have heard about stargates - there are many on Cathor as well - they require charged shards to activate - even arcane or divine shards, if they have enough power points into them (shards replaced scrolls in Cosmothea, but they work pretty much the same). Not everyone knows how to configure a stargate to go where you want it to though and some stargates work quite differently than others.]

He appears thoughtful and pauses a moment before speaking, "Well... I have heard of stargates, though have never witnessed one being used before, nor have I ever met anyone from another world. It is good to know Yahweh's presence is felt throughout all of creation. You look a little worse for wear, is there anything I can help with?"

"You have my thanks, friend. I was nearly lunch for a griffon a few minutes ago," Klutarkes said. "It would have bit me in half had it not been for Yahweh's protection. I prayed and healed up some, then a nehi came along and loaned a hand. I suppose I should use my remaining healing for the day, but I was saving that for emergencies ..." He smiled over at both, but clearly his wounds, though externally healed were bothering him slightly for he'd never been good at hiding pain, not having as high of a pain threshold as he would prefer. "Why don't we rest, have a nice meal and then we can show you the stargate I was speaking of." Glancing over at T'Sarreth, he said, "What do you think we should do next, T'Sarreth? Do you wish to continue searching these tunnels or strike off on some new adventure while we wait for our friends down below to sort things out? Odd that the nehi fellow still hasn't ––" His words were cut short as a high pitched squeal reaches their ears. "It's the nehi ... he's in trouble," Klutarkes said, glancing in the direction of the dead griphon's lair.

"We've seen these tunnels enough," T'sarreth said. "I suggest something new. I for one would rather breathe frsh air than stagnant, musty cave mists."

"Indeed," Klutarkes said, nodding at Caide, and then began moving toward the noise. Ahead of them was a splattering of blood from the body of the creature T'Sarreth and his friends had battled earlier. The body was gone, though Klutarkes had found it in the Griffon's den. Beyond the blood was a fifteen feet long, freezing cold pool - the one T'Sarreth and Klutarkes had filled their flasks with recently. Beyond the chilly pool, the tunnel went up another sixty feet or so and opened to another tunnel lined with bones, heading both left, toward the Griffon's den, and right, where the early afternoon sun was pouring in.

The nehi had gone down the tunnel to the left, no doubt to claim the dead Griffon's possessions, Klutarkes figured.

"Sounds like your friend needs help. We should investigate. Which way did he go? Lead on and I will bring my prayers with me.", said Caide, falling in step behind the other two.

[[ What do I need to know and have done with my character that may not be done yet for any upcoming battle, so I don't slow things down? Also couldn't find the grey color in the list, do you have a hex value for it? ]]
